Faucets, Faucets, Faucets

So our kitchen faucet was looking like this:

Not the most aesthetically pleasing thing in the world, but nothing I couldn't manage to live with for a little while. The problem was the functionality. Since we moved into the house, the entire base of the faucet would rotate whenever we tried to move the spout around. More recently, whenever I pulled out the neck of the faucet to spray something down, the water would shut off entirely. That wasn't going to work for me.

Another plumbing issue we needed to have addressed was the faucets in the master bathroom.

Again, nothing horrific to look at. However, one handle on David's faucet has been calcified shut and has never turned since we bought the house. And my faucet has been doing this:

I am certainly not in love with our countertops, but I'm not a proponent of adding rust stains to the eighties almond marbling.

We also had a couple of toilets that were running funny. We decided to call in a plumber rather than try to do this ourselves, mostly because I have no interest in flooding my house by my own stupidity. Turns out that was a very, very good idea. Between broken shut off valves, pipes from the seventies, and several hours spent wrestling with David's calcified faucet handle, turns out the plumber was an excellent investment.

Twelve hours later (yes, twelve hours), we had fully functional toilets and these beautiful new faucets.

Just ignore the broken lotion dispenser.

I opted to get a new reverse osmosis faucet (that's the small faucet that provides us with filtered water) in addition to the main faucet since the old one, though functional, was chrome and I wanted the finishes to match. I love the brushed nickel so much more than the overly shiny chrome. And they didn't come in a set, but the color and style go together perfectly!

And we wound up with these awesome matte black faucets in the bathroom! The really cool part?

They swivel! I wanted something nice and tall (makes things like filling our humidifier so much easier), and David is pumped that he can move the faucet out of the way when he shaves so he doesn't get hair all over it.

Now I'm not loving the shiny chrome soap pump, but that's an easy update. Mostly it's nice to have fully functional faucets!

I do have to figure out how to get rid of the last of the rust stains though. Any ideas?
