Our First Home

In August of 2016, one year after we got married, my husband David and I decided to move from the suburbs of Chicago to Glendale, Arizona. We lived in a very small rental home in Illinois, and moved to a 1,600 square foot ranch in Glendale that we rented for a year while we were looking to purchase our first home.
With the help of an amazing realtor, we looked at around 25 homes before deciding on ours, which was a former rental which had been sitting on the market for some time. We closed on July 11, 2017 (David's birthday). We moved in on August 5. At 2,300 square feet and two stories, it was much bigger than we were used to.
While we have definitely made some improvements and done some minor renovations in the last 10 months (and had a baby!), I intend to document the life of our home from here on out. It will be incredibly interesting to see how our style evolves, and how we make our house work for us. We would love for this to be our "forever home," and aren't opposed to making tons of changes to what is essentially a blank canvas. As I tell David regularly, I'm not moving again for at least 30 years!
