Fireplace Accent Wall, Part I
So I got bored this weekend.
In fairness, we had already discussed what we wanted it to look like, and I had actually taped up a bunch of swatches earlier in the week. But I decided on a color, prepped, and started painting while he was away.
Prep involved taking down all decor, spackling holes, and unmounting the TV from the wall. I didn't spackle the holes where the TV had hung, because I was going to put it right back in place. I am planning on moving around a bunch of other decor, so I spackled the old nail holes. Then I taped off the walls, ceiling, baseboards, and around the fireplace since I was just going to do this wall.
The color I went with is Vintage Velvet by Behr. The above picture is one coat in. Honestly, after one coat I wasn't in love with it. It was looking brighter than I anticipated. I went in for coat two.
It was so much better! It looks a little brighter in pictures than it looks in real life. It's a gorgeous navy blue with a ton of variance. It looks a little different in daylight, lamplight, and at night, but it always looks beautiful!
Most importantly, David was surprised, but loves the new accent wall. But I didn't stop there . . .
Check back in later in the week to see the other project I took on!
